The Galaxy S23 could finally ditch the Exynos chips for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Samsung finally was able to abandon its Exynos processors, which were mostly disappointing, and instead use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips for its next smartphones.

The 2022 Galaxy S22 smartphone used Exynos chips in place of Snapdragon in certain markets, such as France. Samsung’s decision to use multiple processors in smartphones with the same name is often criticized by users. This includes those in markets that are eligible for Exynos fleas. It has been many years since Samsung’s processors have been significantly less efficient than Qualcomm.

Exynos 2200, for example, is less efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This, among other reasons, means that the European Galaxy S22s is less interesting than the Galaxy S22s on the American market which use Qualcomm chips.

Samsung will only use Snapdragon chips for Galaxy S23

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, tweeted that Qualcomm could be the sole supplier of Galaxy S23 chips. This is a significant change from the 70% that currently supply the S22. Samsung wouldn’t have equipped its next flagship smartphone with an Exynos 2300 processor as it is unable to compete with Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

Samsung’s Galaxy S23s may be more affordable than the existing Galaxy S22s in France, because the Snapdragon8 Gen 2 chips will get TSMC’s 4 nm engraving technology, which is used in the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 of the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro, 12S Ultra, and 12S Ultra.

Recent leaker Ice Universe claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will increase GPU performance while also improving photo and CPU performance. The chip will be more energy efficient and less likely to overheat, which is the greatest fear for smartphones released in the first half of the year. It is expected that it will greatly improve the autonomy of high-end smartphones that use it.
