Sony started testing 1440p on PlayStation 5 – you can already try it out

Sony has opened beta testing for a new system software update to its PlayStation 5 gaming console.

Beta testers now have access to new features, including long-awaited 1440p and structured library playlists.

PS5 users will be able to choose 1440p resolutions on compatible TVs or monitors with the new option. PS5 supports both 4K and 1080p displays. A new option will allow you to output between. This is where the key thing is: The display must be capable of 1440p output. To help you determine if this is right for you, Sony has added the Test 1440p Output option in the Video Output settings menu.

A new Gamelist feature is also available that looks a lot like the groups on Xbox. It’s basically a way to organize games into easier-to-browse sections, rather than searching through the entire library. You can also compare stereo and 3-D audio with this new feature.

Sony also has new social features. You can ask your friends to “Share Screen” and see their current games. Additionally, you will receive notifications inviting friends to join the current game. You can also send stickers and voice messages to friends within the party, as well view their profiles.
