Samsung has created a simple way to protect data from users who give their smartphones to service centers.
The Korean giant announced the availability of a Repair Mode within the OS settings. It hides personal data such as photos, videos, messages and account information. For service professionals, the smartphone system will appear like a brand new device or reverted to factory settings.
Once the phone is returned to its owner, it will be possible for the owner to activate Repair Mode and restore everything to normal.
With an upcoming update to the Galaxy S21 smartphone, Repair Mode will first be available. Then it will be available on other models.
