In the fall, the Vostochny Cosmodrome will launch the first rocket entirely on a new fuel type – naphthyl. It will carry the Skif-D and Gonets M satellites into orbit. Ruslan Mukhamedzhanov (General Director of the Center for the Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure, Roscosmos) spoke at the Army-2022 forum.

Mukhamedzhanov says it will be the Soyuz 2.1b rocket carrying three Gonets M communication satellites and the Skif D demonstration satellite for broadband Internet access. This will be Mukhamedzhanov’s first device under the Sphere federal program.

TsENKI’s Director General recalled that the work to transfer the Soyuz launch system to naphthyl at Vostochny was done in multiple stages. The first stage was the installation of the technological equipment.
