Winamp developers released a new version of their legendary media player, build number 5.9RC1 . This version keeps all the key features and adds new ones.
The player supports iTunes library import, wireless synchronization with Winamp Android, and allows you manage your playlist from your browser (there’s a separate widget).
We are particularly pleased with the improvements in Windows 11 work and the support for the VP8 codec. Numerous bugs were also fixed and system requirements changed. Windows Vista and Windows XP support has been removed. Windows 7 SP1 now qualifies as the minimum system.
Due to the change in the development environment, some older skins will no longer work. The build 5.9 RC1 is still not considered a complete release. Therefore, it will remain to be updated. Winamp 5.9 RCE1 can be downloaded here. Download language packs from this site. All of this is free.
Winamp was popularized in the late 1990s, and it has been increasing in popularity since the early 2000s. Although there are many alternatives, many people still use Winamp for nostalgic purposes.
It was also reported earlier that you could apply for testing.
