Martin Scorsese, an internationally acclaimed director, and Leonardo DiCaprio, an equally well-known actor, have announced their next project. It is supported by Apple Original Films for Apple TV+.
Deadline reports that Scorsese & DiCaprio will adapt David Grann’s forthcoming book The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck Mutiny, Murder, according to Deadline. The book will be published in April 2023. It is interesting to note that Scorsese & DiCaprio have already begun work on Killers of the Flower Moon. This film is based upon the same book by David Grann.
The 1740s are the setting for Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck Mutiny and Murder. As the crew and captain struggle to survive, the warship Wager is stranded on an island. Scorsese will direct and DiCaprio star. They will both produce the project through their respective production firms, Sikelia Productions, and Appian way. Both production companies have a deal with Apple.
The film is still in pre-production so no one knows when it will be released. The Flower Moon Killers was completed in 2021. The film is expected to open in 2023.
