Are the recommended prices for modern video cards too high? Calculated how adapters are priced based on performance
Due to the scarcity of parts and the demand from miners, current generation video cards were almost always overpriced. The prices have started to fall, but what about the recommended prices? Source decided to assess how fair these prices were in terms of performance.
According to the source, the GeForce RTX 3070 was used as a conditional benchmark. It is quite affordable if you consider 4K resolution.
GeForce RTX3060 Ti is a more profitable graphics card, as you can see. It offers more than the $400 price. The rest of Nvidia cards are similar to the standard and offer a price match of 90-94%. However, all high-end cards are highly overpriced. According to these calculations, the same GeForce GTX 3090 Ti should cost $ 814 and not $ 2000.
Only the Radeon RX6800 XT and 6800XT AMD cards can be distinguished. These cards are close to 100%. The Radeon RX6700 XT also has a 92% rate. While the rest of the cards are more expensive, no model is less than the RTX3090 Ti. This is simply because the RX6950 XT costs almost twice as much.
It is important to note that the source only evaluated gaming performance, so calculations are largely arbitrary. They don’t consider non-gaming capabilities, such as the large amount of memory available in top GeForces and the complexity of GPU or PCB production.
